If you are asking geographically where you should look… I would recommend Ft Myers or Sanibel Island…. both very beautiful and you can stay ON the beach

What is the closest ocean beach to Missouri?

November 162009

Looking for a quick escape this summer, but get flustered thinking about a looooong drive with 3 kids. Any suggestions? Want a good affordable beachfront place. Hotel or house rental, whatever. Just as long as it is a short drive and affordable.
‘Ol St. Louie

As for an ocean front place close, Biloxi, MS is going to be your closest. Virginia Beach, VA runs a close second. With either of these, you’re looking at 500 to 700 mile drive.

Chicago with Lake Michigan, almost an ocean, is under 300 miles. You wouldn’t have to do Chicago it’s self, just try to the East or North, same water. Look into Michigan City, Indiana, my wife grew up there and all she can talk about is how "Great" the "Beach" was.

Does vero beach have rentals for ocean purposes or is it able to be driven on?

November 162009

just looking for info on the beaches in vero , like good shops , fun stuff etc.

I have not been to Vero Beach for a long time but there was no driving on the beach when I was there.

Would it look odd if I go on a nudist beach fully clothed?

November 162009

I just want to experience how it’s like to be on a nudist each and haven’t got the guts to go naked!!

Yes, it’s considered disrespectful and bad mannered to attend a nudist beach or facility clothed. Not only that, people are mindful of those pervs that hang around the beaches and you’ll draw attention for all the wrong reason. Naturalists aren’t there to check you out so what’s the big deal, drop em and be done with it! Aussie girl-yes we have unoffical nude beaches!

What are the best beach resorts?

November 162009

My family and I want to go on a nice vacation to a beach resort for spring break or next summer. We live in California and we have been to Hawaii many times. We want to go to some place a little different. We want to have a place that has a nice pool area and my kids love places that have water slides. Any suggestions? (a city and a hotel/resort)

I’d suggest Phuket!! Phuket is the biggest island in Thailand, and there are several excellent beaches. The waters are usually clear and very good for diving.

As long as you avoid the usually crowded Patong and Karon beaches on the west coast, you can easily find remote beaches for walking, jogging, or just relaxing. There are not many sights to speak of on the island, but perhaps that makes it all so relaxed.

Two of the main attractions near Phuket are the Phi Phi Islands and the Phang Nga Bay, with the so-called James Bond Island. The name comes from The Bond film "Man with The Golden Gun" which was partly filmed on this small island. There is a good choice of organized day trips from Phuket to both the Phi Phi Islands and Phang Nga Bay.

Ocean activities are the biggest draw for tourists in Phuket. Courses and equipment are available at most major beaches for scuba diving, Scuba diving as well as snorkeling in the lagoons with coral reefs. You can find plenty of good dive sites all around Phuket (shark point, anemone reef, etc.) but there are some world class dive sites you don’t want to miss for any reason. You can join a 5 days live aboard to the Similan Islands , a natural reserve where you can spot wales sharks and manta rays. There is also the number one spot in the Andaman sea, Hin Daeng , situated just few hours of speed boat from Phuket. It is important to notice than coral reefs were left mostly untouched by the 2004 tsunami.

You can rent wind surfboards, dinghies, canoes and yachts from many locations for those interested in boating. For a more colorful adventure you can explore the limestone caverns of Phang Nga Bay on guided tours in inflatable canoes.

While scuba diving is probably one of the most popular activities in Phuket, the island also offers many opportunities for more land-oriented outdoor activities such as mountain biking through the western range of the island. Guided horseback tours are also a relaxing way to go sightseeing. Phuket also has a few beautiful golf courses that were built on the remains of the tin mines that first brought industry to the island.

Those interested in an exciting local spectator sport might enjoy checking out the Thai boxing , or "Muay Thai", at Saphan Hin stadium in Phuket Town. Boxers strike blows at and with every part of their bodies, making this a very thrilling spectator event.

What are good Hilton hotels in Puerto Rico for a beach vacation?

November 162009

I work for Hilton so i want a hilton property so i can get my discount. Looking for a safe, lively, possibly tourist-y area in Puerto Rico for my 19 year old bf and 21 year old self. Is the weather good for the beach and swimming in aug or sep? Where in Puerto Rico would you recommend for us? Thanks!! :)

The Caribe Hilton is in a very good location: http://www.hiltoncaribbean.com/index.php?destination=sanjuan

http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g147320-d149921-Reviews-Caribe_Hilton_Hotel-San_Juan_Puerto_Rico.html

If you like walking, you can easily walk into Old San Juan from there (or take the bus). We went in late July last year and we stayed in Condado (not too far from the Hilton) and it was great. The weather was ok, really humid though.

If you do go, definitely rent a car and explore the rest of the island. El Yunque is beautiful, and the west side of the island is nice too.

Any inexpensive vacation ideas for the Daytona Beach area?

November 162009

My fiance and I are going to Daytona Beach for vacation in May. We are on a limited budget and would like some ideas about cheap destinations nearby. We are planning to spend a day in the St. Augustine area as well, if anyone has any suggestions. We love the outdoors, animals, and anything involving nature. Thanks.

Blue Springs State Park in Deland has got hiking, kayaking and stuff like that plus it’s only like 15 mins away.

Where is the best place in the UK for a beach holiday?

November 132009

I planning on, in a years time when I got the money (i’m 16 you see), on staying in some beach house for two weeks with 8 mates, like in American pie 2, but better, which beach in the UK has the best raves, people, places etc in the summer to go to?

Bournemouth is immense (:
I live there and theres a massive sandy beach must be about 7 miles long I think ? It has a surf reef and loads of surf schools (:
Loads of clubs, restuarants, has some U18 clubs and has a few places were local gigs play. Also the main Bournemouth town and gardens are so nice! It has everything all the shops, cinemas, restuarants, clubs and is literally two minutes away from the beach.
It is only about an hour on the train to london (: and there is a airport in Bournemouth which fly’s to and from the US I think.
Also there are some hotels that are about £15 per night which are close to the beach and main town
People are friendly loads of teenagers down the beaches in the Summer. Yeahh it’s a nice place :D

Theres like the website which has all the info about Bournemouth (: and email me if you want to know anything else about it :)
http://www.bournemouth.co.uk/

Newquay is pretty good too :) loads of teens after they have done there GCSE exams go down there and surf :) Its more of a surf destination, the beaches are nice and the people are quite relaxed and friendly but idk if theres many parties and clubs and stuff. (:

I’m redoing my room. I want a beach themed room with light blue and yellow and white. Any Ideas?

November 132009

I have a mid-sized room with everything I already need…bed, desk, dresser, etc. Speaking of my desk, its an L-shaped desk that I put together with shelves. The bottom is white and I was thinking the top would be a light yellow. My walls are going to be blue. I also can’t find bedding that I really like.(I’ve checked pbteen) Any ideas? sorry if that’s kinda long… I tend to talk a lot.

Keep it simple…add beachy flowers or plants and floor lamp lighting. If you could find studs, a hammock would be nice. Also, curtains to match and a long piece of cloth to cover the top and sides of your dresser. As far as bedding…stay with one or two colors that will match the color scheme you have. I wouldn’t have more than 3-4 colors for the whole room though.

To get it all together…pick out a favorite beach painting or picture and use that as the theme or for color matching and inspiration…you could even make the picture the center of the room or paint a life size picture of a beach, ocean and palm tree if you can paint or know someone who can.
