If you had to take just your hand luggage on a beach holiday what would you pack?
January 282010
I am packing my hand luggage as a mini wardrobe, just in case when I reach Turkey my suitcase doesn’t!
Smart girl! This very thing did happen to me. It was a hard lesson.
Pack sample sizes of deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush, sunblock. Rely upon your hotel for other items or plan to buy them at your destination.
Pack a comb, brush but leave the hair dryer and other stuff at home. Again, you can buy them there and only three 1oz. bottles are allowed on the plane. All hotels seem to have hair dryers.
Pack a bathing suit, 3 pairs of undies, 2 pairs of shorts & 2 tops in coordinating colors (4 outfits), one pair of capris, a coverup that can double as a tunic over the capris and a light balero style jacket or sweater. Take a pair of sandals. If all of your clothes can be interchanged, you’ll have 6 or 7 outfits and you can wash out items in the bathroom sink and hang them to dry overnight. Just use the hotel’s shampoo samples.
Take basic jewelry such as pearl studs, a pair of gold or silver hoops, a coordinating 18 or 20" chain and a pearl choker.
Roll your clothes rather than folding them. It saves space. You’ll be set for anything, day or evening!

ANOTHER amateur tourist, huh? I have traveled all over the world with nothing more than a converted fiberglass tool box that has a shoulder strap from a Sony BetaCam camera… I can go for as long as 6 MONTHS with that small case, which fits under ANY AIRLINE SEAT.
What IS IT with you people who are so STUPID and such AMATEUR TRAVELERS that you thing you have to take everything you own with you… I have a news flash for you.. .YOU CAN BUY CLOTHES IN OTHER COUNTRIES.. and the PLUS is.. .YOU WON’T LOOK LIKE A F#@KING AMERIKAN.
Leave the suitcase home… take a small backpack that will fit UNDER any airline seat… and BUY WHAT YOU NEED WHEN YOU NEED IT… You can travel LIGHT and FAST or you can travel HEAVY and SLOW.. but YOU CAN’T DO BOTH.

Well if it’s just the beach, then obviously you need to take the basics, swimwear etc..get some travel toiletries (under 100ml) some underwear, shorts, tee shirts, jeans for the evening, sandals and shoes. You can always buy more clothes in Turkey, as it really cheap.

I think you should just assume you’re going for a weekend holiday and then add a bathing suit and maybe a towel if you’ll be on the beach. If, on the off-chance they do lose your luggage (not actually that common), then you’ll be able to get to your hotel and have a few creature comforts while you’re getting it sorted out. You can always buy sun cream and other essentials when you get there.

bikini; swimsuit;sarong X 2 (can double as skirts;dresses ); flipflops; first aid kit; books; knickers (remember you can wear your bikinoi as underwear; camera; battery charger – but don’t pack more than 100ml clear bottles of suntan lotion/cosmetics as these will be confiscated – buy abroad or airside.
Enjoy yourself and remember your handluggage can be a rucksack or a small case so you can get plenty in.
