Where is a good place for an inexpensive Mexican beach vacation?

I am trying to plan a trip for my mother and myself, and I will be flying out of Memphis, and she will be flying out of Dallas. We want to go to the beach out of the country, so we figured that Mexico would be a relatively inexpensive place. Do you have any ideas on beach cities there that are less expensive to fly into and less expensive to stay in? Thanks so much!!

The perfect place is Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, is a cheap and fun.

A lot of Mexico is on sale right now. The overblown media stories reduced the number of people going to Mexico so the resorts and airlines are offering great deals.
The best thing to do is check prices on a lot of destinations and resorts. If you book before the end of August and travel before mid December, you will often get better pricing.
The flights to Cancun are really cheap right now. You can find good deals at the resorts in Cancun or go just south of Cancun to find some less crowded areas. Playa del Carmen is a nice little town with a long road full of shopping, restaurants, and bars. Cozumel is a great place if you are interested in snorkeling or scuba diving.
The flights to the west coast of Mexico will probably be a little more expensive, but Puerto Vallarta is worth pricing out to see what you can find.

Probably have to fly into Mexico City and take a short flight to Oaxaca then a tour bus to the coast…….but super cheap! Down to about 25 bucks per night. it’s very close to Huatulco. It’s very small but also very beautiful……..and there is more there than just hippies. Like another poster said……….Zihuatenejo is cool and cheap too.
