Best (affordable) beach vacations on east coast?

September 182009

I decided to start planning our beach vacation early this year and really make it a good one. I’m leaning more towards a week-long vacation and renting out a house. I live in Pa so of course I want to stick to the east coast, but theres just so many beaches I don’t really know where to start. If anyone can me their opinion, based on personal experience or maybe just hearing from a friend, what are some of the nicest (and generally affordable) beaches here on the east coast??
Help is much appreciated!!

How far do you want to go? If you live in PA, you probably want to go to the NJ Shore, which is quite nice. You do need to book houses now. I like Long Beach Island. It is quieter than Wildwood and a lot of the other places and there are a lot of rentals. We used to go there. It’s a very family friendly place.

Head to the Outer Banks of Va. My favorite is Corolla or Duck, NC. Vacation rentals are available throughout the whole area. Nags Head is also nice but more "touristy". There are alot of family oriented fun things to do like Putt-Putt golf, go-carts etc. Have fun.

There are a few great destinations to vacation at on the east coast.

One is Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Although it is kind of touristy, there are a ton of activities to do if you are with your family. I recommend the town of Murrell’s Inlet, which is just outside of Myrtle Beach and a bit more relaxing.

I also recommend Atlantic Beach, NC, which is less touristy and very relaxing. There are a ton of day trips possible, like wine tasting as well as checking out historical Fort Macon.

There is a site called http://www.Vacation-Offer.com that offers great discount deals to both of these destinations- 3 days/ 2 nights for only $99. You need to attend a vacation ownership preview, but it is def. worth it.
