Where to go for beach holiday in Europe in end of October?
October 102011
Where can I go in Europe where it’s warm and I can swim on the beach at the end of October?
In Europe, swimming in the sea will basically mean swimming in the Mediterranean, so you want to find the warmest part for October! Cyprus is a very good choice as it’s at the eastern end of the Med, closest to the Middle East coastline. So you get the warmth and sunshine for much longer than, say, Spain or Italy.
For the best value for money, look at holidays in North Cyprus. Thanks to the exchange rate with the Turkish lira, prices are around a third cheaper than in south Cyprus, which uses the Euro. You can fly on budget airlines to south Cyprus and get a taxi transfer across the border (very relaxing way to arrive!), or fly a charter airline into Ercan airport for a shorter transfer time.
At the end of October, you’ll want to look for sheltered beaches rather than exposed, and you’ll want to swim in the heat of the day. personally, I’d opt for a hotel that’s on the beach but also has a swimming pool, preferably an indoor one too, so you’ve got all your options covered, as outdoor pools in Cyprus are not usually heated except by the sun…
For a lively all-in beach resort, try the Acapulco Beach Resort; for an excellent value luxury hotel see the Malpas, and for best privacy and value for money, hire a villa or apartment!
