Beach

I am dreaming of a sunny, warm beach vacation in the continental USA. My ideal place would be someplace warm without a lot of people within three hours drive of an airport. I would like an affordable vacation rental home or bungalow (no motels) on or near the beach. I was thinking somewhere along the Caribbean – maybe Texas or Florida. Any ideas?
Oops, I meant Gulf of Mexico. Has anyone been to Galvenston, Texas? Is it pretty? Is it mello?

Virginia Beach

We go to Florida every summer and I love the beach. We don’t like something too crowded or alot of attractions. We keep things simple, like laying out & swimming all day. We do enjoy going to nice restaurants at night. We usually go to Pensacola Beach. Just thinking about changing things up a little. =]

Treasure Island or St. Petersburg beaches on the Gulf of Mexico. The beaches are large and I’ve never experienced overcrowding…and each area has great restaurants. Have a great summer!

So I have about 4-5 days in Thailand. I want to stay in one place and I want it to be right on the beach. I plan to go scuba diving for 2-3 days and the rest of the time I want to go snorkeling. Also a decent night life would be great too. All this at a reasonable price. What have you got for me?

My fiance and i want to go on vacation for about a week this december… we were looking into hawaii but it seems like it would be expensive to stay there (not the travel package, just the food and activities). if anyone has any experience in hawaii or a better suggestion, any input would be great. we just want to relax and be lazy somewhere with a great beach, preferably somewhere with a bar that is not too expensive to eat/do stuff. thanks : )

The 13 year old is my nephew and it is an annual beach trip with his parents,his 11 year old brother, his 7 year old sister, my mom and my 7 year old daughter. We have always had a great time doing arts and crafts but last year I realized that he was getting a little old for the stuff we have always done and I really don’t know what a guy his age would find "cool" to do….. I really don’t want to embaress him, I just want him to have fun. Any ideas?

wood burning, models, building birdhouses, making key chains with that plastic lace stuff, have him be in charge of photoraphy & the rest of you can make scrapbooks with the pics he take.

I am trying to plan a trip for my mother and myself, and I will be flying out of Memphis, and she will be flying out of Dallas. We want to go to the beach out of the country, so we figured that Mexico would be a relatively inexpensive place. Do you have any ideas on beach cities there that are less expensive to fly into and less expensive to stay in? Thanks so much!!

My boyfriend and I are planning a trip in feb and would like a place that has a nice beach, amazing nightlife (clubs, etc), good food and fun things to do during the day (excursions etc.) We were considering aruba and curacao but dont know much about them. Has anyone ever been or can anyone suggest a better place for a couple (28 yrs old) to go and have fun? thanks in advance

Costa Rica has great food, often live music, and some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Flights are pretty reasonable and you can treat yourself to a stay in an all inclusive resort.

Hey…..good news. You are not the only one with this issue. It is quite common and when people lose weight they can sometimes be left with a pouch that sits around the belly. I live in New Jersey. I am looking to find a nice young, hip vacation spot within a four hour drive from my state. We thought over the idea of Connecticut but I am not really too familiar with their beaches. Are the hotels affordable in the Summer there? Any ideas regarding spots that would offer us nightlife, beaches and clean, affordable hotels? Ocean City, MD has extremely expensive hotel rates and Virginia Beach is too far a drive. Any suggestions would help immensely.
I’ve been nearly everywhere in NJ. We’re trying to get away. I live on the shore as well so getting away from it would be a break.

misquamicut in Rhode island. Its an actual "beach" as opposed to the Long Island Sound beaches of CT. There are plenty of restaurants and bars around there, and its only a half hour or 45 minutes from the casinos too.

If you go to Mystic, CT, you’ll probably have a good time too. I think it’s not a real party spot, but there’s a seaport with a ton of stores and a huge aquarium.

Or take a ride up to Newport, RI. There’s a lot to do there, and depending on where in NJ you are, it’s probably a 3 1/2 to 6 hour drive.
