What is a good first or middle name, boy or girl, that evokes the ocean, beach, islands etc.?
October 42009
My husband and I love the ocean, and as a Coast Guard family, we will be raising our babies by the beach. We would like each of our children to have a first or middle name that pertains to the ocean etc. We don’t want words that MEAN ocean etc. in another language. We don’t want to have to explain to people. We want it to be obvious that the name is tied to our love for the water. Any suggestions?
Oceana was a name that my husband and I liked for a girl (we liked Caitlin Oceana).
How about:
Girl: Marina, Coral
Boy: Sailor (that might sound a little campy), Bay

I used to date someone whose brother’s name was Ocean. What about Marina? Find a name of a beach that you like & use that name. What about Ariel? That is the name of the little mermaid, that always makes me think of the ocean when I hear it.

Isla for a girl. It’s spanish for island, and just gives that water/paradise feel. Or Coral? Ocean? I can’t actually think of a name for a boy, except River.
