Help with beach room decoration?

October 292010

I have a dark turquoise room and I am trying to decorate it to turn it into a beach themed room. I would like ideas to help help out that either cost NO MONEY or EXTREMELY LITTLE MONEY. I have tried putting up some pictures but its not doing much. Help!!!!!!
God Bless

P.S. I’m 12 years old(using my moms yahoo answers account with her permission)
xonoctu-On the wall?

Get fine sand….glue into beach wave pattern & then glue sea shells.

Edit -yes, your walls are a nice turquoise…the sand is your beach. (the waves just make it look a little more fun.) You can use some sort of heavy duty glue to place the shells. You might want to add inexpensive sand pails as storing containers in your room…maybe hang beach towels for curtains. Have a random beach ball for decoration….

Sheer curtains may give the impression of a beach feeling 2 ideas for this below.

Install four rings or hooks to the ceiling and drape sheer fabric at the four corners of the bed. (reuse sheer curtains)

. Using one of the large towel holders(ones that are round) and hang above bed drape sheer curtains Through and have fall down toward floor.
    my favorite simple idea..

the dollar tree is my favorite place for colored sand and shells.
you can glue shells to your lamp shade or lamp base.
or glue around a frame even a mirror.
sometimes there is shells with holes in them i use those to attach to fabric so it is possible for you to hang shells to your curtains/accent pillows with a few stitches.

Grocery stores still have wood crates they use for some veggies and fruits. these make nice accents for a beachy style. Store has given me these free. I have even taken some apart and stained them with some water paints and painted signs on them.
raffia bed skirt/table skirt can be made by stapling or hung underside of bed frame,or just use to trim pictures or if you have blinds and no curtain apply to a curtain rod or window frame with glue and remember to hang a few shells on top of the raffia.(raffia is sometimes avaible at the dollar store.)
Don’t think you have to buy everything for your bedroom at once. Shop around to find the perfect accessories to match the beach theme in your bedroom. You can find bargains at consignment stores flea markets and yard sales
Check with family for things they no longer may want like sheer curtains, grass mats, fans, surfboards, minlights(prefer LED lights as they burn cooler),lamps or shades, bamboo or wicker furture accent pieces, shells

I have a turquoise loft bedroom/ sewing studio. my turquoise is a light version so I went with white and dark brown accents with some sandy colors and yellows, pinks and purples..
