What are simple, inexpensive, easy and cool ideas to turn a room into a beach paradise?

I am remodeling my bedroom into a beach themed paradise. Any easy, simple, and cheap ideas to add to the ambiance would help a lot.
Paint light blues and greens grounded with sandy beige
Light fabric for drapes and canapy either over a bed or a daybed
if you don’t have a canopy bed hang long curtins from the ceilings to create the look.
Stay with light colored furniture if you can if not and your furniture is dark wood that you can’t paint introduce bamboo shades in the windows, a fake tree in a corner with a wooden beach chair and cushions and an up light. Use wicker if possiable it comes light or dark.
A sisal rug would be perfect it looks like the color of sand.
Picture frames with shells glued on them. Any thing you can glue to you can put shells on….chandalier,candlesticks,accent pieces.
Think light,airy and wind blowing gentle and the light colors. Then introduce the greenry not too much though. I hope this helps, it sounds like you are trying to create a relaxing space for yourself !

paint the walls water blue & put starfish,dolphins,and seashells decal when ur done painting. have ur covers with a beach ball pictuer on it ( i don’t think sponge bob will do)
also u can have a large empty fish tank but fill it with diff colors of sand ( u can get them @ the dollar store

bring in lots of sand, it is cheap at Lowes and you do not have to vaccum.

Use hot glue, liquid nails or Gorilla glue to place starfish and seashells around the bottom of the walls as a border ( be careful if you have a dog they eat starfish) or you can acquire some interesting old nautical stuff at thrift shops by your local beach. If you come across a fisherman’s netting you can stain with teabags and make it look antiqued, if it’s used you can wash it in white vinegar to get the fishy smell out and drape it on the wall

Pick up the magazine Coastal Living. It is all about making your home look like you live on the beach. I think the biggest thing is to have white furniture and use beige and blue colors to decorate with. Beige is for the sand, seashells etc. Blue and White are nautical. So paint your furniture white and use blue and white stripes for your comforter and accessories.

A nautical theme looks the best. Lighthouses, fish, lots of light blue and beige and grass green. You can find alot of good deals on Amazon.com to find what you need.

I painted my walls blue and put a net on one wall (you can pick one up from the craft store) then I filled the net with fish. You can get fake trees or real plants to put into the corners. Put another wall like the beach and ocean. Put in beach chairs, beach balls etc. Let your imagination run wild! Have fun!

I reccamend the colour scheme of: Yellow’s, blue’s, whites and turquoise.
And wicker furniture, like a wicker (white) (yellow) rocking chair.
Perhaps some cheap yard sale finds, like ocean paintings and other things that involve your colours and/or theme.

You can go with a more grown up and less cheesy beach look with things like drift wood mounted on the wall as art pieces (not everywhere, like one or two big pieces) light blue grey paint on the wall with white trim and maybe even some white waynes coating around the bottom of the walls…a sand colored area rug or two. You could put up one of those hammock chairs in the corner and use light breezy curtains that are sheer and white.
Its all what you like tho and if you want palm trees everywhere and coconuts and umbrellas then do it that way.

If you have the space, try a swinging hammock. I don’t know if you have one where you live, but in the north east, Ocean State Job lot sells them for $29.00. Keep the colors light and airy. Blue’s are the color of choice. Use flip flops for slippers, If you have good windows, invest in a nice palm tree. If light is a problem, use faux plants. A sea shell and sea glass collection are a nice addition. What kind of bed do you have. Can it be painted white. Coastal living had plans for a swinging porch bed (real cool). Sounds like a great idea, I’m sure it will be a peaceful retreat when your done, just keep it simple, light and airy like the ocean.

I had a beach-themed room when I was in college, and I only spent $200 on the whole thing. I went to Lowe’s and got a bamboo shade for my window. Then I painted my walls with two different shades of blue (turquoise blue at the bottom, sky blue at the top) and blended them in the lower-middle area of each wall, to look like the ocean fading into sky. I bought some light-weight wood planks (also at Lowe’s) and built a canopy to go over my bed, complete with a tan-colored ‘Hawaiian grass’ outdoor-umbrella cover that I bought on clearance at the local party store. I used my grass mat on my wooden floor and threw my surfboard in the corner, and voila! Instantly beachy.
